Professional Standards Committee

Developing the industry's standards

The Invest Europe Professional Standards Committee develops and maintains strong guidelines and working practices for the industry. The Committee makes direct recommendations to the Invest Europe Board on professional standards and responsible investment issues. It is also responsible for Invest Europe's Handbook of Professional Standards, an annually updated publication setting out the principles of transparency, accountability and governance that our members must abide by. The Committee is supported by the Responsible Investment Roundtable, the Risk Measurement Guidelines Working Group, the Working Group on Accounting Standards, Valuation and Reporting, and the Training Working Group.

Private Equity Fund Risk Measurement Guidelines Working Group

Solvency II is a proposed EU regulation that will set insurers’ capital requirements, the amount they must hold against the risk of an investment.

Insurers are important long-term investors in private equity funds but they could be discouraged from choosing the asset class if they have to hold disproportionate amounts of capital.

Solvency II has encouraged the introduction of advanced internal control frameworks. In response to the lack of guidance on this subject for private equity practitioners, Invest Europe created a working group to evaluate the feasibility of advanced risk measurement for private equity.

Invest Europe Risk Measurement Working Group began developing in 2010 a set of guidelines for internal model-based risk measurements for private equity as part of Solvency II.
