ESMA boss: Private equity can help fund Europe's economy

The EVCA (now Invest Europe) interviews Steven Maijoor, the Chair of the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA), who said supervisors and policymakers were looking for alternatives to bank finance, such as private equity investment, to help Europe's economic recovery. He also called for the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD), which regulates private equity, to be implemented consistently across the European Union.
