Invest Europe's Chair is chosen amongst Platform Council members and elected on an annual basis by the Invest Europe Board of Directors. The Chair takes ultimate responsibility for delivering the Association’s services and works closely with the Chief Executive Officer to represent members and promote their interests in Europe. The Chair is also a spokesperson for the Association and the industry worldwide.
Klaus is one of Europe’s leading business angels and venture capitalists and was an early investor in European technology champions including Spotify, Klarna, Sumup and Revolut, as well as international leaders Airbnb and Facebook. He founded Lakestar in 2012 after previously running his own venture capital fund Hommels Holding.
As a passionate advocate on behalf of the European tech ecosystem Klaus is also a founding member of think-tank initiatives including the Internet Economy Foundation and the European Center for Digital Competitiveness in Berlin. Klaus holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland and holds a PhD in Finance from the same university.
Invest Europe is managed by a Board of Directors, elected at the Invest Europe Ordinary General Meeting (OGM).

The Board of Directors manages all Invest Europe's activities and takes the lead on industry issues. It also assesses Platform action plans and reviews the allocation of resources by the Association. In addition, the Board oversees Invest Europe’s financial and operational performance, as well as its long-term strategy.
