New document provides members with a comprehensive overview of the policy and regulatory developments shaping private capital in Europe
Invest Europe has published its first bi-annual Policy Update, a new initiative designed to give members a clearer view of the evolving European policy landscape and the work undertaken on their behalf throughout the year.
As private equity, venture capital and infrastructure investment move increasingly to the centre of Europe's competitiveness agenda, the number of legislative and policy initiatives affecting the industry continues to grow. Today, more than 25 policy files are under discussion at EU level, covering topics ranging from fundraising and fund regulation to taxation, sustainability reporting, innovation policy and capital markets.
To help members stay informed and navigate this increasingly complex environment, the Mid-2026 Policy Update provides a concise overview of the most important developments from the first half of this year, and gives a glimpse of the key debates expected to shape policy discussions in the months ahead.
The publication highlights several encouraging trends, including efforts to unlock additional sources of capital, simplify regulatory requirements, improve market access, support innovation and strengthen exit opportunities across Europe. At the same time, it identifies a number of important negotiations that remain underway and where continued industry engagement will be essential.
Beyond providing a snapshot of the policy landscape, the update also offers greater visibility into Invest Europe's advocacy activities, showcasing the association's engagement with EU policymakers, publication of policy positions and guidance, industry events, and coordinated member advocacy initiatives.
"Our objective is simple: to help members better understand the policy environment in which they operate and the work Invest Europe is undertaking every day to support a stronger European private capital ecosystem. As this is the first edition, we hope it becomes a useful resource for members seeking a clear overview of both the challenges and opportunities ahead" says Martin Bresson, Public Affairs Director.
As several major policy files enter critical phases of negotiation during the second half of 2026, member input will remain central to ensuring that Europe's policy ambitions translate into practical improvements for managers and investors across the continent.
