Every generation creates a sound of its time and forges new ways of working. With more and more video content makers needing music to complement their work, access to royalty-free music could be a gamechanger. Discover how EQT-backed Epidemic Sound is playing its own library of tunes.
This is definitely the life i always needed but didn't know i wanted i was pretty young and i was working with different music producers and different labels and i had my passion and my music and some people used that so i got scared and i didn't want to work with music for a while and one of my old colleagues was like yeah i work at epidemic sound you should really reach out to them so when i sent my demo that was a statement for me to take myself serious and to follow my dreams and to be a music creator and make a living out of it.
The first thing that struck me when i started three years ago was the environment and the people it's such a inspiring and warm and creative place and all the people working here are crazy ambitious and passionate and hardworking. Our model offers a way for our music creators to make a living in music the storytellers and the filmmakers they need music for their projects and our artists they want their music to be heard our music is being heard by millions of people every day this ecosystem generates a huge spread all over the world which generates streams which generates revenue for artists so not only with the upfront payment for each track but also the royalty split and the sound tracking bonus system. So i think the thing with epidemic sound is that you can actually have a stable income and work with music and you get to work with different music creators from all around the world.
Epidemic sound is a fast growing music tech company born out of sweden they are solving a real pinpoint for all these online creators they're giving them access to a restriction free high quality music catalog which allows them to distribute their content globally. Tech companies typically compete on a global basis and it's really a battle of talents so from that perspective having a well functioning tech ecosystem in europe that allows for tracking this world class talent is really vital for the longterm success for europe both in terms of value creation but more importantly this is where the jobs will be created.
Innovation needs to be financed to be to transform into jobs into companies and into sustainable businesses basically there are 10.2 million people working in the 23 000 companies that are backed by venture capital and price equity across europe which means that we are supporting in terms of a number of people the entire population of sweden or portugal if you want to make another comparison. We want to invest with the long term trends the mega trends in our society we we try to be a very active and value added investors but having that said we also want to be very handson but not handsin so it's very important that it's the management team that's running the business. I think that prior capital providers are an engine for growth and with growth comes job creation there was a world before epidemic sound and there was a world after epidemic sound for me i just wanna be with you my.
When i started at epidemic sound i started as a songwriter music producer and when i created my first three songs they actually asked me if i wanted to release it as an ep and i was like no but then i thought about it and i was in a process in my life where i was like challenging myself and my fears so i was like yeah let's do it it felt both scary stressful and very good like i could move on and create new stuff and i now when i look back at it i really groan from it.
