The Foreign Subsidies Regulation has been brought in to protect the EU from distortive foreign subsidies. There is serious concern within the private equity and venture capital industry that this regime will lead to a disproportionate and burdensome framework for our sector. This response, provided on behalf of Invest Europe listed members, highlights various problems with the PRIIPs Regulation, including issues with the highly prescriptive format requirements in disclosure, in light of the potential review of PRIIPs in the UK.

Despite the difficulties encountered by private equity in late 2022, last year was still the second strongest in private equity's history.

In this letter Invest Europe teams up with other trade associations to call on EU Institutions to extend the temporary exemption under EMIR for equity options. The request was made to ensure there are no adverse effects from equity options becoming temporarily subject to bilateral margining requirements.

The new EU Regulation on ESG disclosures (SFDR) has been applicable since March 2021.
