The Foreign Subsidies Regulation has been brought in to protect the EU from distortive foreign subsidies. There is serious concern within the private equity and venture capital industry that this regime will lead to a disproportionate and burdensome framework for our sector. This regime must do what it intends to do in targeting the handful of key problematic cases without creating an undue administrative overload for all market participants .

This response, provided on behalf of Invest Europe listed members, highlights various problems with the PRIIPs Regulation, including issues with the highly prescriptive format requirements in disclosure, in light of the potential review of PRIIPs in the UK.

In this letter Invest Europe teams up with other trade associations to call on EU Institutions to extend the temporary exemption under EMIR for equity options. In this response, we express serious concerns about the introduction of the proposed guidelines on funds’ names, which we believe amounts to rulemaking which is not within the powers of ESMA. Should ESMA nonetheless introduce guidelines, we urge ESMA inter alia to include more elaborate grandfathering and transitional relief and to delete the suggested minimum safeguards.

Invest Europe replied to the BEFIT public consultation. In this document Invest Europe supports the main objectives of BEFIT as set out in the Call for Evidence, but in addition recognises the need for further clarifications due to the high-level description of the BEFIT rules.
