The Invest Europe ESG KPI Report is the first annual ESG and sustainability data survey to track the industry’s efforts in tackling issues such as climate change, female under-representation and bribery and corruption. Through this initiative – alongside the creation of Invest Europe’s ESG Reporting Guidelines – European private equity can become an undisputed leader and standard setter on ESG measurement and reporting across the global private capital industry.

Invest Europe has written to EU leaders and relevant finance ministers on the EU response to the United States' Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) ahead of the European Council meeting on 23/24 March. The Foreign Subsidies Regulation has been brought in to protect the EU from distortive foreign subsidies. There is serious concern within the private equity and venture capital industry that this regime will lead to a disproportionate and burdensome framework for our sector. This response, provided on behalf of Invest Europe listed members, highlights various problems with the PRIIPs Regulation, including issues with the highly prescriptive format requirements in disclosure, in light of the potential review of PRIIPs in the UK.

In this letter Invest Europe teams up with other trade associations to call on EU Institutions to extend the temporary exemption under EMIR for equity options. The request was made to ensure there are no adverse effects from equity options becoming temporarily subject to bilateral margining requirements.

The new EU Regulation on ESG disclosures (SFDR) has been applicable since March 2021.

Why we need to mobilize private growth capital and how we can do it.

In this response, we express serious concerns about the introduction of the proposed guidelines on funds’ names, which we believe amounts to rulemaking which is not within the powers of ESMA. Should ESMA nonetheless introduce guidelines, we urge ESMA inter alia to include more elaborate grandfathering and transitional relief and to delete the suggested minimum safeguards.
