Infrastructure has become one of the most sought-after asset classes among investors, while estimates suggest Europe could require as much as €40 trillion of infrastructure investment by 2040.
The panellists discussed where they see some of the most compelling opportunities, including the rapid growth of data centres, while stressing that powerful megatrends do not automatically translate into successful investments. Investment discipline, experience and careful asset selection remain essential.
The discussion also highlighted some of the challenges Europe must address to mobilise investment at the scale required. The panellists pointed in particular to the importance of predictable regulatory frameworks and faster permitting to give investors the confidence and visibility needed to commit long-term capital.
Invest Europe’s Infrastructure Roundtable brings together leading infrastructure investors to exchange expertise, address issues affecting the sector and strengthen the role private capital can play in financing the infrastructure Europe needs.
