On 27 May 2025, Citywire hosted a special roundtable in London featuring senior voices from Invest Europe’s Listed Private Capital Roundtable. The conversation covered transparency, access, and long-term performance in the Listed PE space.
Moderated by Selin Bucak, the roundtable featured:
Richard Hickman, managing director, HVPE, HarbourVest Partners (HarbourVest Global Private Equity investment trust)
Pierre Bernardin, managing director, head of investor relations, Eurazeo
Francisco Velázquez, chairman and managing partner, Axon Partners Group
Charlotte Morris, partner, secondary investments, Pantheon (Pantheon International investment trust)
They highlighted the significant discount at which many listed private equity vehicles are trading, and how that presents a major opportunity for investors. In addition, they also stressed the importance of greater investor education to help the market better understand and unlock this potential.
The speakers agreed that while there is a great opportunity for investors in listed PE, there are many who are unaware of it. Listed PE firms run more than €4.4tn of assets globally. Data from Invest Europe revealed that listed fund-of-funds recorded a 49% uplift on exit compared to their last valuation, while listed firms making direct investments achieved a 39% uplift.
The panel also discussed the continued relevance of IRRs, and underlined the need to complement them with other metrics to give investors a full picture of performance.
