DIGITALEUROPE’s "Scale Matters" series of interviews, hosted by its Director General, Cecilia Bonefeld-Dahl, aims to decipher the remaining barriers for SMEs preventing them from scaling across borders. In the second episode, Invest Europe CEO, Eric de Montgolfier shares his views on the top financial hurdles preventing Europe from becoming an attractive destination for venture investors such as lack of flexibility and inefficient administrative rules as well as immature risk-capital funding compared to other regions such as the US. The interview also looks at possible solutions that the EU can implement.
Eric de Montgolfier said:
"The companies we currently support in Europe employ 10 million individuals, which accounts for 4.3% of the European workforce. It is important for policymakers to recognize that we are actively supporting a significant number of employees—an interdependent relationship that needs to be comprehended and adapted to. By doing so, employees can contribute effectively, enabling us to secure the necessary resources to support and sustain this ecosystem."
