Cambridge, UK-founded Bicycle Therapeutics takes its name from bicyclic peptides, a new kind of molecule that can penetrate deep into tissue to combat intractable cancers. Bicycle’s treatments target solid tumours that can be resistant to smaller molecules and provide a precision-guided approach that can spare unaffected tissue and cells.
Venture capital investment and support helped Bicycle to progress its innovative treatments through clinical trials and establish an early discovery collaboration with US biotech leader Genentech to invest in new immuno-oncology therapeutics. The company has also been identifying fields for development beyond cancer with applications in diabetes-related vision loss and dementia, as well collaborations on a variety of other solutions ongoing with AstraZeneca.
