SOPHiA GENETICS’s cloud-based platform is at the nexus of cutting-edge technology, drug development, and the treatment of cancers and rare diseases. The SOPHiA DDM platform uses AI and machine learning to interpret real-life DNA data and give rapid and robust insight to doctors and researchers around the world. Insights can be shared with all participants, meaning that as the platform grows, the outputs are fed by more data and become more accurate. This, in turn, allows healthcare professionals to create better drugs and design more effective treatment programmes for patients.

Venture capital backing helped SOPHiA transform from a research tool developed at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne into a fully-fledged software-as-a-service platform for the global healthcare industry. With investment, the Switzerland-headquartered company set up its first R&D centre in France and acquired molecular biology and genetic analytics company Biosoftware. SOPHiA GENETICS floated in 2021 and now serves healthcare institutions in over 70 countries.
