โWe have done a very good job of solving first-world problems with technology. The biggest opportunity now is in using technology to solve the worldโs biggest challenges.โ
First of all early stage is a local game. The investors that are best positioned to help companies in the early stage are the ones that leave close enough to sit with them and help them get to the next level. The Europe ecosystem has developed a lot in the last couple of years but of course we still could use some more capital because it's still challenging to back companies from the early days until IPO and then not everything can be solved with money. In the last decade we tried to solve a lot of problems with huge amounts of money without making sure the unity economics would make sense. I don't think that's part of the Playbook anymore for an entrepreneurial ecosystem to flourish we need very good talent which we have in Europe. We need investors and a thriving investment ecosystem which we have of course we can always do better and then I think where we can do better is in having all of these ecosystems collaborate together namely fostering tech transfer from universities and research centers into the industry. I think corporates and companies in general could be early adopters and could be innovators at an earlier stage which is something that happens a little bit more in the US compared to Europe so I feel that's where the opportunity for us to do better in Europe is. We have done a very good job at solving first world problems with technology I think right now where the big opportunity is is in using technology to solve the world's biggest challenges. Think about energy transition food sustainability and all of the problems that are reflected in the SGS, the good news is that there's lots of new funds and we have one dedicated to the blue economy that are like targeting these sectors so I believe the best way to have impact is to put our money where our mouth is and invest in these sectors and change the world through more sustainable systems.
