Private Equity is an asset class which have a really really stable and and I would say a governance structure and an active ownership that really fits a longterm investment strategy like ours.

My name is Anders Strömblad, I've been the head of alternative investments in ap2 since the Inception of ap2 first of January 2001. ap2 is a pension fund in the Swedish Social Security pension system when we started ap2 2001 one of our investment thesis was that we believed strongly that investment in small Innovation startup companies and in larger companies could create a lot of good returns to our beneficiaries.

Our investment thesis and our strategy has been really really successful since since the Inception we have lot created a lot of good returns from our private Investments and these investment returns has been driven about innovation in small startup companies and transformation of large and more mature companies.

Returns from those Investments that we have done has mainly come from growth of those companies and also from new innovation and that has been really really fantastic to see. We in Europe we do need to accelerate our investments in Innovation and in transformation and companies we do need to be more competitive of a global scale for example in Innovation is that we have the ability to be word leading I think on climate Tech and artificial intelligence but we do need to support those investment thesis by investing in private companies smaller Innovation companies and larger companies we could create great competitiveness in those businesses we could even create. World leading businesses but we knew do need to support this kind of thesis by doing that we could deliver two things we could deliver good returns to our beneficiaries but we could also support the society in a good way you can call this strategy kill two birds with one stone.
