Our investments are not just about a financial return but it's about having a positive impact for society overall.

My name is Janke Dittmer I'm a general partner at Gilda Healthcare we invest in Innovative Healthcare solutions that enhance patient outcomes and that drive sustainable growth we believe that Private Equity inventure capital is an important part of the social social and economic fabric of Europe by providing so patient longterm capital for the Innovative companies that they they fund and that not only helps bring economic growth but also better pensions for Europeans to the extent that their Pension funds invest in venture capital and private Equity while aligning with very important social environmental goals I think private equity and venture capital um invests not only for financial returns that's important to uh remember for our fund we invest in better care at lower cost if you look at the challenges in uh our industry and Healthcare it's fragmentation in the European reimbursement system that's one and certainly underinvestment both in the early stage and in the very late stage we have an enormous Gap and Pension funds are actually particularly underinvested and not pulling their weight in in Europe um and that's surprising and it's bad for European pensioners because the European VC and private Equity returns are actually at least as good as us uh returns and so pensioners are missing out despite these challenges we can use private equity and Venture Capital as a very effective tool to address some of the biggest challenges out there like dealing with an agent population our investments are not just about a financial return but it's about having a positive impact for society overall
