In celebration of the 40th Anniversary of Invest Europe, we asked a number of speakers and participants to share their insights on the past, present and future of the private equity and venture capital industry in Europe.

Here’s a preview of what they had to say.

Today technologies are offering amazing opportunities they're emerging from everywhere, every country, every industry, every segment. You see that most of the innovations come from today from startups and basically these startups provide the innovation to these industries and make a huge funds as compared to more traditional funding. The good news is that there's lots of new funds and we have one dedicated to the blue economy that are like targeting these sectors. So I believe the best way to have impact is to put our money where our mouth is, being resilient, being focused, work hard, dedication, have to be humble, patient, kind ,discipline and flent.

The role of the industry in Europe has changed significantly over the last 20 years and today we are employing 10 and a half million people in Europe. It's a core part of improving building better businesses in Europe. Our role is to help companies reach the next stage through funding but also through structure, through a vision of current needs and valuations of the market to help companies stare in their slots and move to their next stages to reach two goals one generating a significant return for our investor but at the same time also contributing to change the world we can bring innovation to the world and build champions such as artificial intelligence robotics Quantum Computing have all been funded by private capital for the sustainability of the society. We need to focus on a different type of unicorns, we need to focus on impact unicorns that make a difference to a billion people rather than accumulating a billion of dollars or Euros in economic value.
