Investor coalitions and initiatives

Launched in 2005, the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) is an investor initiative, which is supported by, though not part of, the United Nations. Now with 3,800 signatories, it advocates for six principles for responsible investing and relies on voluntary disclosures by members.

Made up of 74 institutional investors with US$ 10.6 trillion AUM, the Net-Zero Asset Owner Alliance (NZAOA) commits to transition their investment portfolios to net-zero GHG emissions by 2050.

The Net Zero Asset Managers initiative is an international group of asset managers, made up of 273 signatories, committed to supporting the goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 or sooner.

The primary objective of the Net Zero Investment Framework is to ensure that investors can decarbonise investment portfolios and increase investment in climate solutions, in a way that is consistent with a 1.5°C net zero emissions future.

Targeted at insurers, reinsurers and pension funds, the PSI Initiative advocates for four principles for investors to consider as well as integrating ESG into their entire value chain.

Targeted at banks, the PRB ensures that its signatories’ strategies and practices align with its six principles, in order to meet the vision set out in the Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement.

The ESG Data Convergence Initiative (EDCI) is a collaborative initiative between LPs and GPs, the aim of which is to enable comparative reporting around a set of ESG metrics that are jointly deemed as ‘core metrics’ by members of the project.
